Luis Enrique makes stunning admission about PSG's Super Cup win over Tottenham

Paris Saint-Germain head coach, Luis Enrique, has admitted his side were second-best in the UEFA Super Cup final against Thomas Frank's Tottenham Hotspur at the Bluenergy Stadium.

Micky Van De Ven broke the deadlock in the 39th minute, profiting from poor defending at the back from PSG, before Cristian Romero did the same three minutes after the restart, although PSG's debuting goalkeeper Timothy Chevalier could've done better in preventing the ball from going.

Thomas Frank's side continued to sit deep as the game went on, trying to hold on to their two-goal lead, which seemed secure until PSG substitute Lee Kang-In drew one back in the 80th minute, drilling a powerful strike into the bottom corner of Vicario's goal.

Goncalo Ramos replaced Kvhicha Kvaratskhelia in the 77th minute, forcing Ousmane Dembele out wide, and the move paid off when the Frenchman put in a cross in the fourth minute of five added to take the game to penalties.

Dominic Solanke, Pedro Porro and Rodrigo Bentancur scored from twelve yards for Spurs while Mathjys Tel and Van de Ven scuffed their penalties.

Ousmane Dembele, Lee Kang-In, Goncalo Ramos and Nuno Mendes all scored their spot kicks for PSG except for Vitinha who sent the first one wide.

After the game, Luis Enrique mentioned his side were lucky to seal a win over Tottenham Hotspur, mentioning Thomas Frank's side deserved a gold medal at the end of the night.

"For 80 minutes, we didn't deserve that. I think Tottenham deserved to win the match because we could feel that they were in the match. They had a great game," the former Barcelona coach told TNT Sports.
"They've been training for six weeks, and we've been training for just six days, but sometimes football is very unfair.

"I have to say that we were very lucky. In the last ten minutes, we could score two goals.
"I have to say that my players had faith until the last minute, like our supporters, but football is unpredictable, and in that sense, I have to say that we were very lucky," the 55-year-old concluded.

Le Parisien cleared four out of the five trophies they competed for in 2025, with their only loss coming against Chelsea in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
